Faster Big-Rigs

Is your road speed governor set too low to pass slower vehicles safely on two-lane highways?

Have you noticed an increase in "Close Calls" since operating a truck with a speed governor that is set too Low?

Does it seem to take forever to pass slower trucks on the freeway?

Do you frequently find yourself driving along-side another 40 ton big rig with a similar speed governor setting for 5 or 10 minutes when trying to pass?

The Safest Highways are where ALL vehicles travel at the same speed. That's just common sense. Traffic safety engineers have long ago proven this fact and it's time for a change to increase public highway safety.

Truck Drivers - Increase Speed governor for safer control over your vehicle.

Flow with traffic for better freeway capacities and less close calls from impatient motorists.

Manual transmissions only

Not recommended for  automatic transmissions, only a limited performance increase can be expected and possible error codes  and other qwerks may result.

Compatible trucks include: 1992 through 2008 Freightliner - Kenworth - Peterbilt - Volvo - Western Star Sterling - International Navistar or any brand of truck with  Cat Acert, Cummins Celect, ISX, Detroit DDEC 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and Volvo VE D12 through VE D16 engine control modules. Manual 6 thru 18 speed Eaton - Fuller - Rockwell - Spicer - Meritor transmissions. Not for automatic transmissions. Works with most Manual transmissions if vehicle connectors match our installation kit and speed sensor(s) are located as seen at the link below.

Precautions: The SafetyPass Pro creates a safer driving environment for all hi-way users when used properly. We recommend this device only be used as a means to increase public safety by allowing the driver to operate their vehicle at a speed that offers the highest degree of safety determined by traffic flow conditions. Freeway capacities increase when trucks  "blend in" with the speed of the traffic rather than hindering and slowing traffic. This device should be used to create a safer operating environment for the truck-driver and the motoring public  who become very impatient with slow trucks on 2-lane highways and jeopardize their own lives and put others at risk when attempting to pass a "Rolling-Roadblock", truck that is too slow, Caused by a speed governor that is set TOO LOW. Close Calls and Dangerous, long passing times can be avoided or reduced, when this SafetyPass Pro is used properly. Any other use of this device is not recommended and strongly discouraged. User assumes all risk and liability when using this product.

The SafetyPass Pro simply plugs into existing speed sensor connectors. It's a simple matter to make connections with the installation kit (included with every unit) that fits most (90%) class 8 trucks that are in operation today, October. 25, 2008.

The installation cables can be permanently installed in under 30 minutes. Temporary installation (or removal) takes about 5 minutes.

All connections to the vehicle are made in one specific location.

At the rear of the transmission, on the output shaft, just in front of the driveshaft U-joint, at or near the vehicle road speed sensor location.

Locate the speed sensor(s) then follow computer leads to locate the in-line connectors. Use the Main Cable to plug into Weather-Pack Connectors or Metri-pack adapter cables along with Main Cable to plug into ECM and Speed sensor leads. Simply separate, disconnect, or un-plug existing vehicle connectors and plug-in the installation cables supplied with your SafetyPass Pro (no splicing required).

Here is an example of a 2006 Volvo Conventional with Cummins ISX engine and 10-speed Fuller Transmission using the Metri-pack adapter cable included with every SafetyPass Pro.

Use the Metri-Pack adapter Cables along with the Main Cable to plug directly into the top of Metri-Pack Speed Sensor and ECM leads.

Once connectors are located - Just separate the existing connectors and plug-in using the installation kit.

Quality Cables built to O.E.M. Specs

Only commercial grade electronic components and state-of-the-art  construction techniques are employed to insure long life with reliable and consistent results under the harsh conditions of over-the-road trucking. Thermal protection for integrated circuits creates a smooth and stable environment for years of trouble free service and customer satisfaction.

Find out what Professional Drivers Say... "Thanks for a great product that works and is well made. It saves me between one and two hours per day by just staying close to the speed limit. When a company turns down a truck so low that you dread going to work, its time to find a new line of work or do something about it. The SafetyPass Pro is a very simple "passive system"

Your Privacy is very important. That's why SafetyPass Pro never logs into the vehicle computer. It does not create log files nor does it change computer programming settings. It merely intercepts a signal from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), modifies this signal according to driver specifications and then sends it on to the engine control module (ECM) where it is processed as a genuine VSS signal.

Operation

Once connected (see installation above), the SafetyPass Pro must be "pre-set" using the calibration control knob located on the device and the vehicle speedometer. This is a very simple procedure that takes less than a minute.

Frieghtliner Columbia Speedometer

This 2001 Freightliner with a Detroit, Series 60 engine, produces a maximum governed rpm of 2280 when the device is set to 44 mph.*

SafetyPass Pro - Model XM6.5

After the device has been pre-set, just  switch on the control unit to disable road speed governor Instantly. Gain speed by simply pressing down on the throttle pedal.

During control unit operation the vehicle speedometer* will no longer reflect actual road speed. To accurately measure road speed during device operation the tachometer can be used when the vehicle is in the highest gear.

How to use tach as speedometer: Switch  control unit OFF while driving, shift into high gear, note RPM relative to speedometer reading. i.e. RPM @ 1500 = 65 MPH, RPM @ 1600 = 69 MPH, RPM @ 1950 = 76 MPH. Using this method will provide a very accurate way to measure your actual road speed.

*Trucks with two sensors or two leads will need the Weather-Pack Y Adapter to gain visual feed-back from the speedometer during device operation See Catalog.

The SafetyPass Pro is a high quality, sophisticated tool designed by Experienced, Professional Truck Drivers.

HOW IT WORKS

The SafetyPass Pro allows the vehicle engine to operate at maximum governed engine RPM in Top Gear. It simply de-activates the road speed governor by providing a new signal (controlled by the calibration knob) to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

The engine is then permitted to supply maximum RPM as measured by the RPM governor and limited only by programming parameters (settings) in the ECM.

The maximum governed engine rpm limit is programmed into the ECM and can not be changed by this device. Top speed is limited to Maximum governed rpm of the engine.

When the control unit is switched on, the device sends signal to ECM, more speed is granted. The computer will continue to add full power until maximum governed engine RPM is reached, regardless of actual road speed and with out a time limit. When the device is switched off, the Vehicle speed sensor signal is sent to the ECM and the vehicle returns to Normal Operation, including limited speed governor.
